Our hair color services
Every color service includes a custom gloss, blow dry, and style.
All Over Color
from $160no foilsAll-over color covers your hair from roots to ends with one uniform shade for depth and shine. Best for refreshing your natural shade, going deeper, or covering gray. No foils, no painting. Just a rich, glossy color from one bowl. Includes a custom gloss, blow dry, and style.
Root Touch Up
from $100no foilsBlend away gray roots and maintain your existing color effortlessly. We apply your formula just to the regrowth so your color stays seamless from one appointment to the next. Includes a custom gloss, blow dry, and style.
Full Balayage
from $275Full head balayage creates a natural gradient from roots to ends with a hand-painted, sun-kissed effect. The freehand application means no harsh demarcation line at the root, so your color grows out beautifully even three to four months later. Includes a custom gloss, blow dry, and style.
Partial Balayage
from $225Adds soft brightness and dimension through the top and face-framing areas. Same hand-painted technique as a full balayage with a smaller footprint, and a lighter hit on your investment. A great option for clients who want noticeable lift around the face without committing to the full back-of-head appointment.
Full Highlight
from $225Full-head highlights add dimension and brightness throughout your hair using foil placement. The foils trap heat and lift hair brighter than freehand techniques can, which makes this a great option for clients who want bright, controlled color from root to tip.
Partial Highlight
from $175Half-head highlights add dimension and brightness while keeping a natural look. Foils are placed through the top and face-framing sections. Adds visible lift where it’s most noticeable without the time or cost of a full.
Face Framing Highlight
from $100limit 10 foilsFace-framing highlights brighten your look by adding lighter strands around the face, enhancing your features with a soft, sun-kissed effect. A great option for a quick lift between full appointments, or for someone who wants a subtle pop of brightness.
Gloss
from $60Enhance shine and vibrancy with our Gloss service, which infuses tone for healthy, radiant hair. A sheer color treatment that refreshes your existing color and adds visible shine without lifting your hair. Most often booked as a between-appointment refresh to extend the life of your color. (Doesn’t include blow dry on its own. We recommend pairing it with a Blow Dry and Style if you want to walk out finished.)
Color Transformation
$150 / hrconsultation requiredColor correction work using high-quality products to restore vibrancy and balance to your hair color. Built for clients coming from another salon, working back from box dye, or making a dramatic change like dark to light. These appointments are quoted hourly because every transformation is different. We’ll walk through what’s realistic at your consultation.
Our approach
Custom formula.
Custom tone.
Two things matter most — custom formulation, and custom toning.
Every formula at The Mane Edit is mixed at the bowl based on your hair’s underlying pigment, porosity, and how it’s behaved with color in the past. We don’t pull “medium ash brown” off the shelf and call it a match. The toner we apply at the end is just as important. It’s what controls warmth, finishes the color, and gives your hair that glossy, intentional look you came in for.
If you’re getting a service that lifts your color, like highlights, balayage, or a Color Transformation, we use professional bond-building chemistry to protect your hair’s integrity. Lightener is still a chemical process, but it doesn’t have to mean we compromise the integrity of your hair.
At home
Make it last
A few habits go a long way:
- Oribe Shampoo and Conditioner (we’ll recommend a few we love)
- Cool to lukewarm water when you wash. Hot water opens the cuticle and fades color faster
- Heat protectant before any hot tools
- A gloss appointment every 6 to 8 weeks between full color services
- Purple shampoo once a week if you’re blonde
We send every color client home with product recommendations specific to your hair and your color, not a generic list.
Good to know
Frequently asked
How is balayage different from highlights?
Highlights are wrapped in foil, which traps heat and lifts hair more uniformly and brightly from root to tip. Balayage is also applied in a foil, but the technique and placement give you a softer, more lived-in and natural grow-out.
What’s a face-framing highlight?
A small, focused service where we place up to 10 foils around your face to brighten the strands closest to your skin. It’s a great option for a quick refresh between full color appointments, or for someone who wants noticeable brightness without the full investment.
What’s a gloss, and do I need one?
A gloss is a sheer color treatment that adds shine and refreshes your tone without lifting your hair. It’s a popular between-appointment service for color clients — glosses extend the life of your color, keep your tone where you want it, and add visible shine. Every full color service at The Mane Edit already includes a custom gloss as the finishing step.
How often should I come in for color?
It depends on the service — root touch-ups every 4–8 weeks, highlights every 8–12 weeks, full balayage every 3–4 months. We’ll build a maintenance schedule with you at your appointment.
Will color damage my hair?
Lift-based services involve lightener, which is a chemical process — but done well, with bond-building products and good technique, your hair shouldn’t feel compromised. Deposit-only services like all-over color and glosses are much gentler.
Can I go from dark to light in one appointment?
Almost never. Lifting safely to bright blonde takes multiple sessions to protect your hair. This is usually a Color Transformation spread across two or three visits — we’ll map out a realistic timeline at your consultation.
Do you do color corrections?
Yes. Our Color Transformation service is built for this. It covers fixing at-home color, removing brassy tones, growing out an old color, or completely changing your shade. These appointments are quoted hourly at $150 because every correction is different.
How much does hair color cost in Falls Church?
Our color services start at $60 for a Gloss, $100 for a Face Framing Highlight or Root Touch Up, $160 for All Over Color, $175 for a Partial Highlight, $225 for a Full Highlight or Partial Balayage, and $275 for a Full Balayage. Color Transformations are $150 per hour. We’ll give you a clear quote before we start.
Should I come in with washed or dirty hair?
A day or two of natural oil is ideal. Don’t shampoo the morning of, especially for any lift service — those oils protect your scalp during processing.
